The expansion of this fifty-year-old Cape-style house in suburban Boston maintained a cottage-like scale despite the addition of 1,100 square feet for a Breakfast Room, Family Room, Master Bedroom, Front Entry, and Porch.  The existing house was fully renovated, including a gut-remodel of the Kitchen, new bedroom dormers, and new windows, siding, and roofing.

A 2-story addition for a Family Room, Breakfast Room, and 2 Bedrooms compliments this charming 1920s house.  The project required special attention to the city neighborhood context and approval from the Boston Redevelopment Authority.

A second floor addition to this Arts and Crafts bungalow in Wellesley sensitively honored the scale and detail of the original house, while introducing a dramatic 2-story stairwell into the interior.  The project included 3 new bedrooms and 2 baths, plus reconfiguration of existing first floor spaces.

This formerly rundown waterfront residence in Beverly, Massachusetts was entirely gutted and redesigned for a newlywed couple.  Interior spaces were reconfigured to improve circulation and zoning.  New windows fill the home with light and views.

Frederick Design Studio provided comprehensive design, technical, and construction administration  services to Finch Architects for the $1M renovation and expansion of this Royal Barry Wills house in Brookline, Massachusetts.

A tight, steeply sloping site necessitated small floor plates in a new 2-family house designed for a tree-lined Boston street.  The resulting four-floor scheme is contained within what appears to be a 1-1/2 story facade, keeping the building in harmony with its 2-family neighbors.

Matthew Frederick provided design services for the conversion of this large Victorian carriage house to a luxury residence in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
